Residents of Naivasha are grappling with shock and sorrow following the tragic and mysterious death of 31-year-old mobile money operator Jane Wanjiru, whose lifeless body was discovered near Delamere Farm along the busy Nakuru–Nairobi highway.

According to investigators, a post-mortem examination conducted at Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary revealed disturbing details surrounding her final moments. The examination established that Wanjiru died after being strangled. Detectives also indicated that evidence collected during the autopsy suggests she may have been sexually assaulted before her death.

Wanjiru, a native of Kinangop in Nyandarua County, was known as a hardworking and ambitious woman. She was married to a member of the Kenya Defence Forces stationed in Gilgil and had built a reputation among friends and customers as a warm, friendly, and dedicated entrepreneur.
Reports indicate that before her death, Wanjiru had spent time with friends at an entertainment venue in Gilgil. What happened after that remains the subject of an active police investigation.
Her body was discovered early in the morning by residents heading to work. The grim discovery, made a few kilometres from Naivasha town, sent shockwaves through the community and triggered a major police response.
Detectives now suspect that the killing may not have occurred at the location where the body was found. Instead, investigators believe Wanjiru may have been murdered elsewhere before her body was transported and abandoned near the highway in an apparent attempt to conceal evidence.
As part of ongoing investigations, police are carefully reviewing her recent phone records, communications, and movements in the days and hours before her death. Authorities are also seeking to identify anyone who may have interacted with her shortly before she disappeared.
Investigators have assured the grieving family that every available lead is being pursued and that no effort will be spared in the search for answers.
