Kenyan newspapers reported that the cost of maintaining President William Ruto’s six advisory units will exceed KSh 1 billion in the 2024/2025 financial year.
According to documents tabled in parliament, the budget for salaries, entertainment, and other perks for the units will increase from KSh 977 million to KSh 1.14 billion on July 1.
The high-profile advisers include David Ndii, Henry Rotich, Monica Juma and Augustine Cheruiyot.
The economic transformation office led by Augustine Cheruiyot will spend KSh 239.4 million
David Ndii’s Council of Economic Advisors budget was set at KSh 194.5 million Ndii’s team will spend KSh 88 million on travel, KSh 9.4 million on communication (airtime and mobile phones) and KSh 23 million on entertainment
Former Treasury Cabinet secretary Henry Rotich, who now leads the Fiscal affairs and budget policy team, would be funded to the tune of KSh 100 million

Monica Juma (National Security Advisor) – Sh109.7m
Henry Rotich (Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy) – Sh100m
Ali Mohamed (Council of Climate Change Advisor) – Sh55.07m
These salaries have left Kenyans talking because of huge budget amidst tough economic times for kenyams. This comes even as the Kenya Kwanza government continues to decry lack of funds to support some projects and even pay doctors.
