A cloud of mourning descended on Lakewood Premier School in Mlolongo after a 14-year-old student lost his life in a horrifying fall from a school building on Friday.
The tragic incident occurred within the school’s compound in the Airways area, leaving fellow students, teachers, and parents devastated.
According to preliminary police reports, the Grade 9 pupil allegedly fell from the third floor of a classroom block through a stairwell grill. The circumstances leading to the fall remain unclear, prompting an intensive investigation by detectives from Athi River East Sub-county.
Police officers who rushed to the scene found the young boy lying motionless with severe head injuries believed to have resulted from the impact. Authorities noted that he had suffered a fatal skull fracture accompanied by excessive bleeding.
Sadly, the student was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shocking news spread rapidly, triggering panic among parents who rushed to the school seeking answers and reassurance about the safety of their children. Emotional scenes were witnessed as worried parents gathered outside the institution while police officers secured the area.
Crime Scene Investigation officers from Embakasi documented and processed the scene before the body was transferred to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death.
The student’s family was notified and later arrived at the school to receive the heartbreaking news.Investigators are now working to establish what transpired moments before the fatal fall and whether any other factors may have contributed to the tragedy.
