A tragic incident in Juja, Kiambu County, has left a family mourning the death of their loved one after a 38-year-old man was allegedly stabbed during a heated confrontation involving his romantic partner and a security guard.
The victim, identified as Bonface Waweru, died on November 5, 2026, while receiving treatment at Nain Hospital, where he had been rushed following the violent incident along Chai Road.
A woman believed to have been in a romantic relationship with Waweru has since been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing as detectives piece together the events that led to his death.
According to police reports, the incident began when Waweru was reportedly heading home and got involved in a heated disagreement with a male security guard.
What initially appeared to be an ordinary argument allegedly escalated into a tense confrontation, attracting the attention of people in the neighbourhood.
As the disagreement continued, a woman reportedly joined the confrontation. In a shocking turn of events, she allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Waweru on the lower right side of his chest.
The attack left the 38-year-old man seriously injured, forcing those present to rush him to Nain Hospital in an attempt to save his life.
However, despite receiving emergency medical attention, Waweru succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
### Suspect cornered at hospital
Events took another dramatic turn shortly after Waweru was admitted to hospital.
According to the police account, members of the public reportedly managed to apprehend the woman suspected of carrying out the attack at the hospital.
Officers from Abba-Salama Police Post were alerted and quickly responded to the scene. They took the suspect into custody before escorting her to Juja Farm Police Station, where she remains detained as investigations continue.
Detectives subsequently visited the scene of the incident along Chai Road, where they conducted preliminary investigations and collected evidence that could help reconstruct what happened.
During the exercise, officers reportedly recovered a bloodstained knife believed to have been used in the attack. The weapon was collected and preserved as an exhibit to support further investigations.
### Relationship disagreement under investigation
Preliminary investigations have established that Waweru and the arrested woman were reportedly involved in a romantic relationship.
Detectives are now examining whether a disagreement connected to their relationship contributed to the confrontation that ultimately claimed the man’s life.
