What was meant to be a joyful homecoming turned into unimaginable grief after a Kenya Air Force soldier tragically lost his life just two days after returning to visit his family in Vihiga County.

Kevin Havi Adoli had travelled home to Gimariani Village in Tambua Ward, Hamisi Constituency, hoping to spend time with his loved ones and begin a project aimed at improving the lives of his parents.
Family members say the young soldier arrived full of hope, carrying plans and dreams for the future. Nobody imagined that his visit would become his final journey home.
According to relatives, Kevin had only spent two days with his family before tragedy struck.
On the morning of June 10, his mother reportedly went to call him for breakfast, expecting an ordinary family moment. Instead, she found him unconscious while seated in a chair.
Alarmed and desperate to save him, family members rushed him to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu. Sadly, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Autopsy Reveals Cause of Death
As news of Kevin’s sudden death spread, many questions emerged, with speculation circulating across social media and within the community.
Speaking to media outlets, Kevin’s uncle, Reverend Gerishom Andani of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God, later shared details from the post-mortem examination.
In a family statement, he explained that the examination was conducted at Mashujaa Memorial Funeral Home in the presence of close relatives and Kenya Military officers.
The post-mortem findings revealed that Kevin died as a result of an aortic rupture — a serious medical condition involving a tear or rupture in the body’s main artery.
The family’s announcement also addressed public speculation that had linked the death to unverified claims and rumours.
Family Mourns a Promising Son
Those who knew Kevin described him as a dedicated son, husband, brother and family member whose future appeared bright.
His relatives expressed gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, comfort and support during the painful period.
As preparations continue for his final send-off, the family has asked for continued prayers and unity.
Kevin Havi Adoli is expected to be laid to rest at his home in Vihiga County, with the family promising to communicate additional details in due course.
What was supposed to be a brief visit home to share dreams and plans with his parents instead became a heartbreaking farewell that left a family and community in mourning.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the family said.
