Shock, grief, and anger continue to spread across the education fraternity following the brutal killing of Mwalimu Franc Anerico Wekulo, as the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kakamega County Branch intensifies calls for justice.
In a strongly worded statement, the union condemned the horrifying incident, describing it as a senseless act of violence that has robbed the teaching profession of a dedicated educator. KUPPET urged security agencies to move with speed in investigating the murder and ensure that everyone involved is arrested and prosecuted without delay.
According to the union, it is deeply disturbing that individuals believed to be connected to the crime are reportedly still roaming free despite the seriousness of the allegations. The union warned that any delay in bringing the suspects to book would only deepen the pain of the bereaved family and erode public confidence in the justice system.
“We call upon all relevant security agencies to expedite investigations and ensure the immediate arrest of every suspect linked to this heinous crime,” the statement said.
KUPPET also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defending the safety, dignity, and welfare of teachers across the country. The union noted that educators dedicate their lives to shaping future generations and deserve to work and live in a secure environment free from violence and intimidation.
The tragic death of Mwalimu Franc Anerico Wekulo has left his family, friends, colleagues, learners, and the wider teaching fraternity in deep mourning.
