A seemingly ordinary day at a hardware shop in Kapiri has reportedly turned into a dramatic confrontation after a middle-aged businessman allegedly came face-to-face with a man suspected of having an affair with his wife.
The businessman, identified as Kaluba Emmanuel, was reportedly apprehended by police following the violent confrontation, which left the alleged lover seriously injured and fighting for his life.
According to accounts circulating about the incident, the drama began when a smartly dressed man walked into Kaluba’s hardware shop and asked for the female owner. Witnesses reportedly became suspicious when the visitor appeared familiar with the woman and asked where she was.
The man allegedly explained that he had come specifically to see her, saying that she was usually at the shop whenever he visited. He reportedly added that he wanted to call her because they were supposed to travel to Ndola.
Unbeknown to him, however, the man he was speaking to was reportedly Kaluba himself.
The revelation allegedly sent the businessman into a rage.
What started as a conversation quickly descended into a violent confrontation.
According to the accounts, Kaluba allegedly picked up a round steel bar and struck the man before the situation spiralled out of control. The alleged victim reportedly fell to the ground, only for the confrontation to continue after he attempted to defend himself.
Witnesses claimed that Kaluba allegedly continued attacking him with punches and kicks, apparently overwhelmed by anger and jealousy.
The situation reportedly became so intense that members of the public began shouting for help and attempted to restrain the businessman.
At one point, Kaluba was allegedly seen approaching the injured man while carrying a sack of cement, reportedly raising fears that he intended to continue the attack.
Members of the public are said to have intervened and managed to push him away from the victim. However, according to the accounts, Kaluba allegedly resisted attempts to restrain him and even threatened or struck people who tried to get close using the steel bar.
Police were eventually called to the scene and reportedly managed to apprehend him, bringing the chaotic confrontation to an end.
The alleged victim was left seriously injured and was reportedly rushed for emergency medical treatment. Reports indicate that his condition was critical and that he was placed on oxygen support as medical personnel worked to save his life.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports circulating after the incident claimed that Kaluba’s wife had earlier told him that she was travelling to Mushili in Ndola to visit her sick mother.
Those claims have added another layer to an already dramatic incident, although the circumstances surrounding the alleged relationship and the events leading to the confrontation remain subject to investigation.
The incident has since sparked discussion in Kapiri, with residents left stunned by how quickly an encounter at a business premises allegedly turned into a near-fatal confrontation.
