What started as a journey to Saudi Arabia in search of a better life has turned into an inspiring story of determination, sacrifice and investment for Sarah Blessed, popularly known as Matty.
The woman from Mumias, Kodongo, Kakamega County, left Kenya on May 19, 2021, hoping to improve her financial situation and create a better future for herself and her family.
She secured a job as a househelp in Saudi Arabia, earning about 900 Saudi riyals—approximately KSh31,000—per month.
While the salary was modest, Sarah remained determined to make every coin count.
Rather than spending her earnings carelessly, she focused on saving and investing, gradually turning the money she earned thousands of kilometres away from home into lasting assets.
Her biggest breakthrough came in October 2024, when she bought a piece of land in her home area for KSh250,000.
That was only the beginning.
Sarah immediately started developing the property, putting up essential facilities including a borehole, latrine and septic tank.
She later ventured into real estate, investing approximately KSh2.2 million in rental houses.
But Sarah had an even bigger dream.
She wanted to build a permanent home where she and her family could enjoy the fruits of her years of sacrifice.
That dream has now become a reality.
Sarah has completed a stunning four-bedroom family home estimated to have cost about KSh5.2 million, including furniture and solar panels.
The spacious house features four ensuite bedrooms, a sitting room, dining area and kitchen, alongside three bathrooms, a front veranda and a porch.
Inside, the home has been fully furnished with seats, dining furniture and beds, while solar panels provide an alternative source of electricity.
For Sarah, however, the building represents far more than bricks, cement and furniture.
It is a physical reminder of the years she spent working away from her loved ones and the discipline it took to turn her earnings into investments.
Her emotional reaction after seeing the completed house captured the magnitude of the achievement.
In a TikTok video shared on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Sarah showed the grey-and-blue exterior of her new home before revealing how difficult it was for her to believe that she had finally achieved her dream.
She said she woke up at around 6am and found herself standing outside the house, overwhelmed by the moment.

Her words reflected the journey behind the beautiful house—a journey that began with a decision to leave Kenya and work as a domestic worker in Saudi Arabia.
