A bizarre and disturbing incident has landed a woman identified as Raila Jeruto in court in Mombasa after she was accused of attacking her friend, allegedly biting her on the breast and later locking her inside a house for approximately four hours.

The shocking allegations have attracted public attention, with many people expressing disbelief over how a disagreement between two people who reportedly knew each other escalated into a violent confrontation.
Jeruto appeared before a Mombasa court, where she faced two charges, including causing grievous bodily harm contrary to Section 234 of the Penal Code and wrongful confinement.
According to details presented by the prosecution, the incident allegedly occurred on October 21, 2026, at around 5am in Jomvu Madukani, within Jomvu Sub-County, Mombasa County.
The prosecution told the court that Jeruto was involved in a disagreement with her friend, identified as Charity Cheptoo. What allegedly began as a disagreement between the two women soon escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, Jeruto is accused of biting Cheptoo on the breast, inflicting injuries that reportedly required medical attention.
The situation allegedly took an even more disturbing turn after the physical confrontation. Prosecutors claimed that Jeruto locked Cheptoo inside a house by securing the door from the outside, preventing her from leaving the premises.
According to the prosecution, the victim remained trapped inside the house for approximately four hours, unable to get out or seek assistance freely.
However, the commotion reportedly attracted the attention of other tenants living in the building. Having heard unusual noises and becoming concerned about what was happening inside the premises, they allegedly decided to alert a village elder.
The intervention of the village elder reportedly helped bring the ordeal to an end, with Cheptoo eventually being freed from the house.
She was subsequently rushed to hospital, where she received treatment for the injuries allegedly sustained during the confrontation. She is reported to be recovering.
Meanwhile, Jeruto found herself facing serious legal consequences as the prosecution outlined the allegations against her in court.
The charge of causing grievous bodily harm under Section 234 of the Penal Code is a serious offence under Kenyan law and carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment upon conviction. The separate allegation of wrongful confinement also exposes the accused to further legal consequences if proven.
The case has generated considerable discussion, particularly because the alleged incident involved two people described as friends.
The circulation of footage showing Jeruto appearing in court has also drawn attention to the matter, with social media users discussing the disturbing allegations.
As the case moves through the justice system, the prosecution will be expected to present evidence supporting the charges, while the accused will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations.
It is important to note that the charges remain allegations, and Raila Jeruto is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
The case now awaits further court proceedings as the justice system seeks to establish what exactly happened during the early-morning confrontation in Jomvu Madukani.
