Missing Form 3 girl found taking shower at Boyfriend House

What began as days of fear, sleepless nights, and desperate prayers has ended in overwhelming relief for a family in Juja, Kiambu County, after their missing teenage daughter was found safe.

Patience Wambui Gitau, a Form Three student at St. Teresa Gatura Girls High School, had disappeared under circumstances that remain unclear, leaving her family and the local community gripped by anxiety. Her sudden disappearance triggered an emotional search as relatives, friends, and well-wishers joined hands in the hope of finding her.

Throughout the ordeal, Wambui’s mother, Eunice Wanyoike, made heartfelt appeals to the public, pleading with anyone who had information about her daughter’s whereabouts to come forward. As each day passed without answers, the family’s worry continued to grow.

Then, just when hope seemed to be fading, a crucial tip emerged.

According to the family, they received information that Wambui had allegedly been seen in the company of a 20-year-old man identified as Xavier. Determined to establish the truth, Eunice, accompanied by several friends, went to a house located only a few metres from their own home to verify the report.

On arrival, the man reportedly denied knowing where the teenager was. He allegedly claimed that the last time he had seen Wambui was about two weeks earlier. Despite his response, Eunice and her companions remained unconvinced and requested permission to search the premises.

The search led to a dramatic discovery.

According to the family’s account, Wambui was found inside a small traditional house, locally known as a “thingira.” The discovery instantly transformed days of fear and uncertainty into tears of relief as her family embraced the teenager, grateful that she had been found alive and safe.

“God is forever faithful because this evening we found Wambui just a few metres from our home, where she was staying in the house of a 20-year-old man,” the family said in a statement after the rescue.

The circumstances surrounding Wambui’s disappearance and how she came to be at the residence have not yet been officially explained. Authorities are expected to establish the full sequence of events and determine whether any offences may have been committed.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing relief over Wambui’s safe return while urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant and encouraging young people to seek help whenever they find themselves in difficult situations.

For Wambui’s family, however, the greatest source of comfort is that the agonising search has finally come to an end, replacing days of uncertainty with gratitude and hope.
