Young mother killed by baby daddy in chaotic relationship

The heartbreaking death of 28-year-old Krystabel Anyango, popularly known as Bella, has left her family devastated as they continue to seek justice over circumstances surrounding her alleged murder.

Bella’s mother, Julian Aketch, revealed that her daughter had been involved in a troubled relationship with a man identified as Henry. According to the family, the relationship was marked by repeated separations and reconciliations due to alleged domestic violence. Despite the challenges, Bella reportedly reunited with Henry in 2024 in an attempt to rebuild their relationship.

Aketch claimed that things worsened after Bella became ill while staying at Henry’s residence. She alleged that her daughter was neglected during that period and later discovered to be pregnant after a hospital check-up. The grieving mother further stated that Bella endured mistreatment, abuse, and hunger while living with him.

The family also accused Henry of failing to take responsibility during Bella’s pregnancy and after the birth of their child. According to Aketch, all medical and related expenses were handled by Bella’s relatives. She added that Henry’s parents later reached out to the family, apologizing for their son’s behavior and pleading with Bella to forgive him, saying he had made mistakes.

After the reconciliation, Bella returned to Nairobi to continue with her normal life. However, her mother said Bella frequently complained about Henry’s violent behavior and excessive drinking habits. At one point, Aketch claimed Henry even sent a disturbing image showing Bella badly injured and lying on the floor. Fearing for her daughter’s safety, she urged Bella to leave the relationship before matters escalated further.

On April 21, Bella reportedly requested KSh 1,500 from her mother to travel to Kakamega, and the money was sent. Days later, on April 30 at around 11 p.m., Henry allegedly contacted the family through a text message claiming Bella had suddenly collapsed and that she was receiving treatment at a hospital.

The following morning, the family received another call from an individual who identified himself as a police officer, informing them that Bella had died and that her body was at Veterans Hospital. However, the family says Bella’s sister later discovered her body inside a saloon car instead of the hospital mortuary.

A postmortem examination conducted on May 4 reportedly revealed that Bella suffered severe head injuries caused by blunt force trauma. The report also noted swollen eyes and multiple scars on her body, findings that convinced the family she had been murdered.

Aketch further alleged that Henry had initially been arrested and taken to Mlolongo Police Station but was later released before disappearing. Bella’s relatives are now calling on authorities to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
