A family in Vihiga County has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Manaseh Ndakala, a police officer attached to Ebuayangu Police Station in Emuhaya, whose body was discovered dumped in River Yala after he went missing on October 17, 2026.

The heartbreaking discovery has brought a tragic end to a desperate search that had left his relatives worried and hoping for his safe return.
According to information shared by his family, Ndakala reportedly disappeared after spending time with his relatives and sharing a meal at home. At the time, there was nothing unusual to suggest that it would be the last time they would see him alive.
However, when several hours passed without any communication from him, his family began growing increasingly concerned. They reportedly tried reaching him through his mobile phone, making repeated calls in the hope that he would pick up and explain his whereabouts.
Unfortunately, their efforts proved futile, as his phone went unanswered.
As anxiety continued to mount, the family decided to visit his rented house to establish whether he had returned or left behind any clues that could help them trace him.
Upon arriving at the residence, they reportedly made a disturbing discovery. The door was found open, but Ndakala was nowhere to be seen.
Even more puzzling was the fact that his police uniform had been left behind inside the house. The discovery raised further questions about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, leaving his relatives struggling to understand what might have happened after he left home.
With no clear information about his whereabouts, the family continued hoping that he would eventually be found alive. Their concerns also intensified as efforts to establish his location continued without success.
Sadly, those hopes were shattered when news emerged that a lifeless body had been spotted floating in River Yala.
According to the available information, a passerby reportedly noticed the body in the river and raised the alarm, prompting the relevant authorities to respond and establish the identity of the deceased.
The body was subsequently identified as that of the missing police officer, Manaseh Ndakala.
His death has left his family, friends and colleagues devastated, particularly given the painful circumstances surrounding his disappearance and the uncertainty they endured while searching for him.
Questions now remain about the circumstances leading to his death, including how he ended up in River Yala. His family and the wider community will be hoping for answers as authorities establish what exactly happened.
What began as an ordinary day after sharing a meal with loved ones has ended in unimaginable grief, leaving behind a family mourning a life lost under tragic circumstances.
