Woman robbed on broad Daylight while walking home

What began as an ordinary walk turned into a terrifying ordeal for a woman who was reportedly attacked and robbed in broad daylight while walking along Kenyatta Road towards Gatundu in Kiambu County.

The shocking incident, which occurred on Sunday, July 5, has sparked fresh concerns among residents about security along the busy route, with many questioning how such an attack could happen so close to a police station.

According to witnesses, the woman was walking along a footpath when unknown assailants allegedly emerged without warning and ambushed her. The suspects are said to have struck her with an object before snatching her belongings and fleeing within moments, leaving her injured, shaken, and in tears.

Good Samaritans rushed to her aid after hearing the commotion. A video recorded shortly after the incident showed members of the public surrounding the distraught woman, comforting her as she struggled to come to terms with what had just happened.

Through tears, the victim explained that her stolen mobile phone held access to all the money she had, leaving her stranded with no immediate means of seeking help or continuing with her journey.

Witnesses claimed the attackers escaped by running into a nearby thicket across the road, disappearing before anyone could catch them. The robbery reportedly took place only a short distance from Kays Police Station, a detail that has left many residents frustrated and demanding stronger security measures.

The incident quickly drew a crowd of concerned passers-by, many of whom said they have witnessed a growing number of attacks targeting pedestrians along the road. Some residents blamed the dense roadside vegetation, arguing that it provides ideal hiding spots for criminals to ambush unsuspecting victims before escaping unnoticed.

Following the attack, locals called on security agencies to intensify patrols along the corridor and clear the overgrown bushes they believe have become safe havens for criminals. They also urged investigators to move swiftly to identify and arrest those responsible before more innocent people fall victim.

By the time of publication, no arrests had been announced, and the victim’s stolen belongings had not been recovered.

The disturbing incident has reignited calls for enhanced public safety measures, with residents urging authorities to strengthen surveillance and protect the many pedestrians—including women, students, and traders—who depend on the route every day.
