In a separate incident in Vihiga County, police in Hamisi have arrested a man following the death of a woman who was allegedly assaulted using an electric wire
The incident was reported on September 21, 2026, at approximately 12:25 a.m. in Musunji Sub-location. Police identified the deceased as Gladys, aged about 35.
According to preliminary investigations, Gladys had allegedly been involved in a relationship with her brother-in-law, a situation that police said had reportedly triggered conflict between her and her husband.
The husband is alleged to have assaulted Gladys using an electric wire on the night of September 21.
When police officers arrived at the homestead, they reportedly found the woman’s body lying on her back and covered with a blanket.
A physical examination conducted at the scene revealed visible injury marks on different parts of her body, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.
The woman’s husband was arrested and placed in police custody as detectives continued investigating the incident.
Police also recovered the electric wire allegedly used in the assault and preserved it as an exhibit.
Gladys’s body was later moved to Mbale Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination. The examination is expected to help establish the exact cause and circumstances of her death.
The incident has left investigators working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths, with the suspects remaining in police custody as the respective investigations continue.
