Wife of Slain Taxi driver heartfelt message to late husband

What was meant to be an ordinary trip to Nairobi ended in unimaginable heartbreak for the family of 30-year-old Kennedy Kibet Ngeno, a devoted husband and father from Roret in Kericho County. The young man, who left behind a grieving wife and a young child, lost his life in a tragic stabbing incident that has sparked calls for justice.

On the evening of Friday, July 31, 2026, Kennedy had travelled to Nairobi to visit relatives. After spending part of the day with family members, including a cousin in Uthiru, they later went out for drinks before setting off toward Pipeline in separate vehicles.

However, their journey took a terrifying turn near Nyayo National Stadium along Mombasa Road. According to Kennedy’s family, an online taxi driver allegedly rammed into one of the relatives’ vehicles, causing damage. When the occupants stopped to inspect the car, the situation quickly escalated.

The family claims the taxi driver became aggressive instead of apologising. He allegedly walked over to their vehicle and smashed its windscreen, leaving everyone shocked. The relatives drove a short distance away to avoid further confrontation and immediately called Kennedy, asking him to come to the scene.

Moments after he arrived, a heated argument reportedly broke out between Kennedy and the taxi driver. It was during the confrontation that the suspect allegedly reached into his vehicle, pulled out a knife, and attacked Kennedy before fleeing. Another person was also injured during the violent incident.

Kennedy was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Due to the severity of his injuries, doctors referred him to Kenyatta National Hospital. Sadly, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A post-mortem examination later revealed the horrifying extent of the attack. Kennedy had sustained multiple stab wounds, including one that pierced his heart, causing fatal injuries.

His sudden death has left his family shattered. His wife, Dorcas Ngeno, described him as the family’s sole breadwinner and pleaded for justice to be served. Overcome with grief, she poured out her emotions in a touching Facebook tribute that has moved many Kenyans.

“Already missing him 😭💔, my fiancée. Even in death I still love you. RIP my love 😘,” she wrote.

Friends and relatives have also remembered Kennedy as a hardworking, humble, and caring man whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. His death has renewed concerns over escalating road rage incidents and the dangers of confrontations that spiral out of control.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Makadara launched investigations into the incident and later arrested a suspect identified as Emmanuel Githua, an online taxi driver. He was expected to be arraigned in court as investigators continue piecing together the events that led to the fatal confrontation.

As Kennedy’s family prepares to lay him to rest, they are left mourning a loving husband, a caring father, and a son whose promising future was tragically cut short. Their only hope now is that justice will prevail and those responsible will be held accountable.
