What began as an ordinary day for Kenyan man Kelvin quickly turned into an emotional moment he is unlikely to forget after his wife, who is based in the United States, sent him an elaborate surprise from thousands of kilometres away.
Kelvin was going about his usual activities when businessman Prince Koross unexpectedly showed up carrying a large gift on behalf of his wife.
Koross, who runs a service that helps people send gifts and surprises to their loved ones from afar, arrived with a huge white balloon bearing the touching message, “I love my hubby.” The balloon was decorated with an American flag, symbolising the long distance separating Kelvin from his wife.
Attached to the balloon was a beautifully arranged white gift box surrounded by colourful roses.
At first, Kelvin appeared unsure of what was happening. But as curious onlookers gathered around, his confusion quickly turned into a broad smile.
Koross then encouraged him to open a smaller box inside the package.
What happened next left Kelvin—and those watching—visibly stunned.
As he opened the box, Kelvin began pulling out a long string of KSh 1,000 notes, with his smile growing wider with every note he retrieved.
According to Koross, Kelvin’s wife had sent her husband KSh 200,000 in cash, together with a pair of shoes, a watch and an assortment of other gifts carefully packed inside the package.
But the money and presents were not the only things waiting for Kelvin.
Hidden among the gifts was a heartfelt handwritten card carrying an emotional message from his wife.
«“My love, you are always on my mind and forever in my heart. No matter the distance, my love for you keeps growing stronger every day. You are my happiness, my peace and my favourite person. I love you more than words can explain; every day my heart finds reasons to love you even more.”»
The message appeared to break through Kelvin’s composure.
Overwhelmed by emotion, he wiped away tears as he struggled to express how much the surprise meant to him.
“Thank you for your love, for always being there for me. Love you so much and I cannot wait to see you, babe. I love you. This was so unexpected,” Kelvin said, his voice filled with emotion.
The touching surprise quickly became more than just a gift delivery.
For Kelvin, it was a powerful reminder that distance does not necessarily weaken love. Despite being separated by thousands of kilometres, his wife found a way to make him feel close to her through money, gifts and, most importantly, words from her heart.
