University female student dies in Guest house after meeting ex boyfriend

A cloud of grief and unanswered questions hangs over the family of a Moi University student whose life was cut short under mysterious circumstances after spending a night with her former boyfriend in Nyamira County.

Photos of Sheryl Ohanga, a third-year student at Moi University’s Eldoret Campus, have since flooded social media as heartbroken friends, classmates, and relatives continue to mourn her sudden and shocking death.

According to police reports, Sheryl had travelled from Eldoret to Nyamira to meet her ex-boyfriend. The two are said to have checked into a lodging facility within Nyamira town, in what appeared to be an ordinary reunion.

However, the visit ended in tragedy.

Hours later, Sheryl was reportedly found unconscious outside the lodging premises under circumstances that remain unclear. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life, but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The incident immediately sparked investigations, with detectives arresting the ex-boyfriend as they seek to piece together the events leading to the young student’s death. Police are also interrogating employees at the lodging facility who may hold crucial information about what transpired during the night.

While initial reports hinted at the possibility of suicide, Sheryl’s family has firmly dismissed the claims, insisting that there is more to the story than has been revealed.

Her mother, Risper Kerubo, has demanded a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation, saying the family strongly suspects foul play.

“We want the truth. We want to know exactly what happened to our daughter,” family members said as they appealed to authorities not to leave any stone unturned.

The tragedy has dealt yet another painful blow to the family, which is still struggling to come to terms with the recent loss of Sheryl’s father.

Friends and fellow students have described Sheryl as a humble, disciplined, and hardworking young woman who was deeply committed to her studies and kept away from trouble. Many have expressed disbelief that her promising life could end so suddenly.

Her death has sent shockwaves through the Moi University community, with students and lecturers alike mourning the loss of a bright scholar whose future appeared full of promise.

Meanwhile, Sheryl’s body has been transferred to Nyamira County Referral Hospital, where a postmortem examination is expected to provide vital clues and help establish the exact cause of death.

As investigators continue to pursue every lead, a grieving family waits anxiously for answers, hoping that the truth behind Sheryl Ohanga’s final hours will finally come to light.
