A heartbroken man has shared a chilling account of the night armed attackers stormed his village, leaving behind unimaginable devastation after his wife, infant daughter, six young girls, a sister-in-law, and another relative’s baby were among those killed.
His emotional testimony has left many in tears, offering a painful glimpse into the horror that unfolded under the cover of darkness.
Speaking while visibly shaken and dressed in an orange tie-dye shirt, the survivor recalled how the peaceful night suddenly descended into chaos.
“It all started when the dogs began barking uncontrollably,” he said. “Moments later, I heard heavy footsteps followed by gunshots.”
According to the survivor, panic swept through the village as armed men moved from one home to another, using powerful flashlights to hunt down residents. Amid the gunfire, he heard his brother screaming as the attackers chased him through the darkness.
Realising that his own life was in immediate danger, the man fled from his house and hid behind a cactus tree, hoping the attackers would not find him.
In a desperate attempt to save at least one life, he said he threw his infant daughter through a window before escaping with her, even as the gunmen continued breaking down doors in neighbouring homes.
But tragedy struck inside the house he had fled.
His wife and their three-month-old daughter were killed during the attack. A sister-in-law, six young girls, and another relative together with the relative’s three-month-old baby also lost their lives in the bloodshed.
According to the survivor, the victims pleaded with the attackers to spare them, but their cries for mercy went unanswered.
By dawn, the once-quiet village had been transformed into a scene of grief, with families mourning loved ones whose lives had been cut short in a matter of minutes.
Images from the burial ceremonies and the survivor’s emotional testimony have since spread widely online, touching hearts across the world. Many social media users expressed shock and sorrow, with countless messages of condolence pouring in for the grieving families.
The attack has left an entire community struggling to come to terms with its enormous loss, as survivors attempt to rebuild their lives while carrying memories of a night they say they will never forget.
