Mystery as Coffin refuses to enter either 2 wives houses

A burial ceremony in Western Kenya took an unexpected and emotional turn after mourners claimed that a deceased man’s coffin could not be carried into the homes of either of his two wives during traditional funeral rites, leaving relatives shocked and searching for answers.

The man had been brought home from the mortuary ahead of his burial, with family members, neighbours, and friends gathering to give him a final send-off in accordance with Luhya customs.

In many Luhya communities, tradition requires that when a married man dies, his body is first taken into the house of the first wife before being carried into the house of the second wife. After these final rites, the coffin is placed outside the first wife’s home before the burial proceeds. The ritual is considered an important cultural gesture of respect and a symbolic farewell.

Because the deceased had two wives, the family prepared to observe the custom without incident. Pallbearers carefully lifted the coffin as mourners watched in silence, expecting the ceremony to proceed normally.

But what happened next left everyone stunned.

According to witnesses, as the pallbearers approached the first wife’s house, they found themselves unable to move the coffin through the doorway. Several men reportedly tried to adjust their grip and change positions, believing the difficulty was temporary. Despite repeated attempts, they claimed the coffin would not go inside.

Those present said the coffin suddenly felt unusually heavy, forcing the exhausted pallbearers to stop. Confusion quickly spread among mourners, with some whispering prayers while others tried to make sense of the unexpected situation.

Hoping the challenge was isolated to the first house, the family decided to proceed to the second wife’s home, where the same traditional ritual was supposed to take place.

However, according to those in attendance, history repeated itself.

Witnesses claimed the pallbearers again struggled to carry the coffin through the entrance. Despite the combined effort of several strong men, they were reportedly unable to get it inside the house. The repeated failure left mourners visibly shaken, with many expressing disbelief at what they had witnessed.

As word of the incident spread, speculation quickly filled the air. Some attendees viewed the events through a spiritual lens, while others urged caution, noting that there could have been practical explanations for the difficulty. No official explanation was immediately provided for what happened.

The unusual occurrence has since sparked intense debate, with many people discussing the incident on social media and reflecting on the role of culture, faith, and tradition during burial ceremonies.

Whether viewed as a mysterious occurrence or a coincidence, the emotional events ensured that the deceased’s final journey became one that mourners are unlikely to forget anytime soon.
