A sense of fear and unease has gripped parts of Ngong after police arrested a man suspected of carrying out a series of sexual assaults against women in the area dating back to 2022.
The suspect, reportedly a resident of Embulbul, was apprehended in Vet Farm following a police operation prompted by information concerning his alleged activities. Officers reportedly found him in possession of several items, including a facemask, handcuffs and other articles that investigators are now examining as part of the case.
According to preliminary police accounts, the suspect may have been operating by targeting couples who visited secluded parts of the area, particularly locations frequented by people seeking quiet spaces for picnics or pilgrimage.
Investigators allege that the suspect would approach couples while they were together before turning his attention to the man. In the reported pattern of attack, he would allegedly restrain and handcuff the male partner, leaving him unable to intervene.
The suspect would then allegedly force the woman away from the couple and into a nearby bush, where police say she was sexually assaulted.
The disturbing allegations have raised concerns over the safety of people visiting isolated areas around Ngong, particularly those who may have assumed they were in secure surroundings while spending time with their partners.
Police believe there could be more victims who have never reported their experiences, either because of fear, trauma, embarrassment or uncertainty about the identity of the attacker.
Ngong Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Jacob Ndunda has therefore appealed to anyone who may have been attacked by the suspect to come forward and report to Ngong Police Station.
The appeal is also aimed at helping investigators establish whether the suspect could be linked to other reported incidents in the area over the past several years.
Police say information provided by potential victims could be crucial in identifying the suspect and helping detectives piece together the alleged pattern of attacks.
Authorities have urged members of the public who may have information relevant to the investigation to cooperate with detectives rather than remain silent.
Meanwhile, investigations remain ongoing, with police expected to interrogate the suspect further and examine the items recovered during his arrest.
The suspect remains innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The allegations against him are yet to be tested through the judicial process, as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the reported incidents.
