A sombre mood has engulfed Ntoluo Village in Lolgorian after a woman reportedly died following an alleged assault during a domestic dispute involving her husband.
The disturbing incident is said to have occurred on Monday night, leaving residents shocked and raising fresh concerns about domestic violence in the area.
According to preliminary reports, the woman’s husband, identified as James Ong’era, allegedly accused her of becoming pregnant outside their marriage. He reportedly instructed her to leave their home, terminate the pregnancy and return afterward.
The woman allegedly followed the instruction and later returned home.
However, what happened after her return reportedly turned into a heated confrontation between the couple. The argument is said to have escalated into a physical altercation, with neighbours reportedly hearing distressing sounds coming from the couple’s house.
Concerned by what they were hearing, the neighbours reportedly rushed to the scene to intervene.
Upon entering the house, they allegedly found the woman in critical condition, having sustained severe injuries, including serious injuries to her private parts.
She was reportedly rushed to hospital in an attempt to save her life. Despite receiving medical attention, the woman later succumbed to the injuries.
Her death has left residents shaken, with the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault now the subject of a police investigation.
The husband was subsequently arrested and is being held at a police station as detectives work to establish exactly what transpired inside the couple’s home.
He is expected to be presented before a court, where the prosecution is likely to outline the allegations against him. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty through due process.
The tragic incident has also sparked concern among residents over the devastating consequences of domestic disputes and the need for timely intervention when conflicts between couples escalate.
