What began as a promising long-distance romance has allegedly ended in heartbreak, financial loss, and painful revelations for a woman from Machakos County currently working in the Gulf.

The woman has come forward with claims that a General Service Unit (GSU) officer identified as Erick Munyalo allegedly took advantage of her emotionally and financially, leading to losses exceeding KSh300,000 over a period of more than two years.
According to her account, the two first connected in 2023 and quickly developed a close relationship. Living and working abroad, she believed she had found a trustworthy partner back home in Kenya. Their conversations reportedly became frequent, and she says the relationship gradually grew into what she considered a serious commitment.
However, she alleges that as time went by, the officer began requesting financial assistance for various needs. At first, the requests appeared genuine and urgent. She claims she was asked to send money for food, personal upkeep, emergency expenses, work-related costs, and even construction projects.
Driven by love, trust, and the hope of building a future together, the woman says she repeatedly sent the requested funds. According to her, each transfer came with assurances that the money would be refunded once the officer’s financial situation improved.
Months turned into years, and the requests allegedly continued.
The woman claims that despite her consistent support, the promised repayments never materialized. Instead, she found herself sending more money while receiving new explanations and promises.
“I believed I was helping someone I loved and trusted,” she reportedly said. “Every time he asked for help, he assured me that everything would be paid back.”
The situation took a dramatic turn when she allegedly gained access to some of the officer’s WhatsApp conversations. What she claims to have discovered left her devastated.
According to her allegations, she found evidence suggesting that she was not the only woman communicating closely with him. She claims there were more than ten women who appeared to be maintaining similar relationships with the officer.
Even more shocking, she alleges that some of the women later shared experiences resembling her own. According to her, several claimed they had also been asked for money under various circumstances and were still waiting to be refunded.
The revelations did not end there.
The woman says she was further heartbroken after allegedly learning that the officer was married and had a child. Throughout their relationship, she claims she had been led to believe that he was single and available.
The discovery, she says, shattered the image she had built of the man she trusted for more than two years.
Now speaking publicly about her experience, the woman hopes her story will serve as a cautionary tale to others involved in long-distance relationships, especially those built largely through online communication.
As the allegations continue to attract attention online, many Kenyans have weighed in on the matter, with some expressing sympathy while others urged people to exercise caution when sending money to romantic partners.
