Kisii man Drowns as helpless Girlfriend watches at Popular Hotel

What began as a joyful Madaraka Day celebration ended in unimaginable heartbreak after a young man lost his life while enjoying a swimming session with his girlfriend at a popular recreational facility near Kisii Town.

The victim, identified as Clifford Omeke, 25, had visited the well-known Village Park Hotel on June 1 in the company of his girlfriend and several friends. The group had planned to spend the public holiday relaxing, swimming, and creating memorable moments together.

According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere at the resort was lively and cheerful as visitors flocked to the facility to mark the national holiday. Clifford was reportedly among those having the best time. Friends described him as energetic, cheerful, and in high spirits throughout the day.

What makes the incident even more shocking is that Clifford was not a stranger to swimming. Those close to him revealed that he was comfortable in the water and had been seen swimming confidently moments before tragedy struck.

Witnesses said Clifford was enjoying himself in the pool alongside his girlfriend while friends mingled nearby. At one point, several members of the group reportedly left the pool area and headed to the changing rooms after receiving information that security personnel wanted to speak with them.

The brief absence lasted only a few minutes.

However, when they returned, they were met with a horrifying sight that would forever change their lives.

Clifford was seen floating motionless in the water.

Panic immediately spread across the swimming area as friends and other visitors rushed toward the pool. For a moment, many believed he had simply become exhausted or was playing around.

His girlfriend, who had been with him moments earlier, was left in complete shock.

Witnesses said she screamed for help before breaking down in tears as the seriousness of the situation became apparent. Friends quickly jumped into the water and pulled Clifford out in a desperate attempt to save his life.

Unfortunately, their efforts came too late.

After retrieving him from the pool, they discovered that he was unresponsive. Despite attempts to assist him, Clifford had already passed away.

The tragic incident left family members, friends, and guests at the facility devastated. Many struggled to understand how a young man who appeared healthy and experienced in swimming could lose his life so suddenly.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drowning as loved ones mourn a life cut short in such a heartbreaking manner.

The tragedy has also sparked conversations about swimming pool safety and the importance of constant supervision, even for experienced swimmers.
