Shock and grief have engulfed residents of Vihiga County following a heartbreaking incident in which a woman working as a house help was found dead after an alleged theft accusation.

The woman, identified as Mary from Mahanga Village, was employed at a home in Chavavo Village when tragedy struck under circumstances that have left the local community demanding answers.
According to reports, Mary was accused by a member of the household of stealing KSh 20,000 that had allegedly gone missing from a bedroom. Following the accusation, it is claimed that she was confined inside a room as tensions escalated over the missing money.
Sources indicate that the distressed woman repeatedly pleaded for help and sought intervention, but her cries allegedly went unanswered. What began as a theft allegation would later end in a devastating loss that has sent shockwaves throughout the village.
