Kenya’s crop of past and present politicians form an intertwined web of leaders who either originate from same family or are connected through marriages.

Below is the list of several politicians who are relatives

1.Former Rongai MP Raymond Moi and Former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi

Gideon Moi is a Kenyan politician who has served in the Senate of Kenya, representing Baringo County, since 2013. He was elected with a landslide win of over 80%. but lost in 2022 election after UDA wave

Raymond was re-elected on a Kanu ticket in 2017 but lost the seat again in 2022 elections. The two are sons of the Late former president Daniel Arap Moi

2. Raila Odinga and Jakoyo Midiwo

Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo who is a first cousin to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and close ally.

The former MP ditched ODM following allegations of botched party nominations in 2017 and vied for the parliamentary seat as an Independent candidate which he lost. He recently reunited with his party leader ahead of 2022 elections.

3. Elizabeth Ongoro and Otiende Amollo

Mrs Ongoro is the elder sister to accomplished lawyer and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.

In 2017, Ongoro was also involved in yet another scuffle during Ruaraka nominations. Following the controversy, she defected from ODM to Amani National Congress. She however lost to Kajwang’ during 2017 polls.

4. Kalonzo Musyoka and Jane Muasya

Jane Muasya is the sister in law to Kalonzo Musyoka.

Back in August 2017, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka caused quite a stir after he nominated his sister-in-law – Jane Muasya, to be a Wiper senator. Jane is his wife Pauline’s sister

5. Uhuru Kenyatta and Beth Mugo

The two are cousins who served in the ninth and 10th parliaments as lawmakers.
