Citizen TV presenter Mashirima Kapombe gave her followers an unexpected scare after what started as an ordinary evening at work turned into a dramatic battle with an uninvited visitor at her home.
The celebrated journalist had just returned from the studio on Wednesday, August 12, apparently expecting to unwind after a long day on air. Instead, she found herself facing a massive snake that had somehow made its way onto her compound.
Mashirima documented the frightening encounter through a series of Instagram Stories, taking her followers from the calm atmosphere of the newsroom straight into the heart of the drama.
The evening had started on a completely different note. In one of the posts, Mashirima shared a picture of herself smiling confidently in the studio, dressed elegantly and looking every inch the seasoned television presenter.
“1 minute you are on air…” she captioned the photo.
But just minutes later, the mood had dramatically changed.
In another video, Mashirima was seen confronting the enormous reptile while still wearing the same outfit she had worn on television. Armed with a stick, she cautiously prodded the snake as she tried to deal with the unexpected intruder.
Her reaction revealed just how shocking the encounter was.
“What the…. It is so huge, Christ,” she exclaimed, visibly stunned by the size of the snake.
The journalist appeared determined not to let the creature ruin her evening. In a caption accompanying the video, she issued a warning to any future trespassers.
“The next time I find a trespasser waiting… Dead. But eih!” she wrote.
What followed turned the frightening encounter into an almost cinematic spectacle.
Mashirima eventually killed the snake and, according to the footage she shared, set its body on fire. The extraordinary scene left her followers with plenty to talk about, particularly because she handled the situation with remarkable composure despite the size of the reptile.
But the real entertainment came from her son, Kenga, who transformed the frightening incident into a hilarious narration.
As Mashirima stood near the burning snake, Kenga dramatically described his mother’s victory as though he were narrating an action movie.
“And she had just killed the snake. And now standing over its lifeless body after she cut its head off with the flaming sword. She had won. Woman queen,” he said, laughing as he captured the moment.
Just when the scene could not get any more dramatic, a kitten wandered into the frame.
Kenga immediately gave the tiny animal a starring role, introducing it as Mashirima’s “trustee lioness,” Buttercup.
The unexpected combination of a giant snake, a victorious mother and a curious kitten turned what could have been a terrifying evening into an unforgettable family moment.
Mashirima later admitted that her son’s sense of humour helped make the ordeal easier to handle.
“This village life is clearly entertaining for Kenga. But his sense of humour makes it easier,” she wrote.
She eventually ended her series of posts on a spiritual note, sharing verses from Psalm 91:5 and 13, which speak about overcoming fear and trampling the serpent.
“You will not fear the terror of night… You will trample the great lion and the serpent.”
For Mashirima, what began as a routine return from the television studio ended with a giant snake, a flaming finale, a hilarious son and a Bible verse—a memorable evening that her family is unlikely to forget anytime soon.
