What began as an ordinary trip to transport a customer ended in tragedy for a promising bodaboda rider from Manyatta, leaving his family with painful questions and a missing motorcycle.
Moses Munene, a bodaboda rider from Gachongo in Manyatta, reportedly travelled to Nembure on Saturday, September 12, after carrying a customer to a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) empowerment function hosted by Hon. Cecily Mbarire.
The event was attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and attracted a large gathering, turning the area into a hive of activity.
But amid the excitement and crowds, tragedy reportedly struck.
According to Munene’s family, the young rider went into the event venue in search of the customer he had transported there.
David Muchangi, a family member, reportedly said Munene appeared to be making his way towards the customer when chaos suddenly erupted.
Muchangi claimed that the rider was allegedly approached or grabbed from behind as the commotion unfolded.
In the confusion that followed, witnesses were reportedly unable to establish exactly what happened to him.
The family’s distress deepened when they discovered that Munene’s motorcycle, which had reportedly been parked outside the stadium, was no longer where he had left it.
According to the family, the motorcycle was allegedly taken during the unfolding events and has not been traced since.
The disappearance of the motorcycle has added another troubling layer to a death that the family says remains surrounded by unanswered questions.
