Blood pressure, 3 wives and anger issues: inside kipruto life

In a shocking incident at a Nairobi magistrate court, a senior Kenyan police officer was shot dead after he opened fire at Makadara Principal Magistrate, Monica Kivuti. The incident occurred shortly after the magistrate made a ruling in a case reportedly involving the officer’s wife.

The judiciary confirmed that Magistrate Kivuti had “cancelled the bond for an accused person who had jumped bond and failed to offer satisfactory explanations for jumping bond.” Following this pronouncement, Kipruto opened fire, injuring Kivuti on the hip. Initial reports indicate that Kipruto was married to the suspect whose bail was canceled.

During mr kipruto approximately three-year tenure at the Londiani Police Station, Kipruto exhibited unpredictable behaviour, including outbursts of anger in response to records, public interactions, and administrative matters.

Ben Siele, a resident, described the late Kipruto as a hot-tempered officer who allegedly employed delaying tactics to frustrate residents attempting to report incidents at the station.

“He was a hot-tempered officer and when we told him we lacked fare when called to attend certain meetings he wouldn’t understand,” he said.

The officer, however, noted that Kipruto would always tell them of his sickly wife. His boss Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Agnes Kunga described the late OCS as a hardworking and diligent police officer. “He didn’t have any disciplinary cases,” she said
