Nyabisase SDA Secondary School has entered a new phase of leadership following the official handover of the institution to Acting Principal Tom Sambora, in a ceremony overseen by officials from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Ministry of Education.
The event marked the retirement of longtime principal Mr. Ogega, who formally handed over the school’s leadership to Sambora at a time when the institution is working to rebuild after weeks of turmoil.
Mr. Tom Sambora brings a wealth of experience to the role. A trained Mathematics and Biology teacher from Kenyatta University, he has built a strong reputation in the education sector through his commitment to academic excellence and effective school leadership.
Before his appointment, Sambora served at Gionseri Girls High School and later as the Deputy Principal at St. Peter’s Suneka High School, where he was widely recognised for his professionalism, discipline, and dedication to student success. His appointment is expected to inject fresh energy into the management of Nyabisase SDA Secondary School as it seeks to restore normalcy.
His arrival comes at a critical moment for the school.
Recently, Nyabisase SDA Secondary School was rocked by unrest that escalated into a tense standoff between students and teachers. The situation culminated in the burning of a school dormitory, forcing authorities to close the institution temporarily as investigations and recovery efforts got underway.
The school has since reopened, with parents required to contribute KSh 3,500 each towards the cost of repairing the damage caused during the unrest.
Education stakeholders are hopeful that the new leadership will help restore confidence, strengthen discipline, and foster a peaceful learning environment. Sambora now faces the important task of uniting the school community, rebuilding trust among students, teachers and parents, and steering the institution back towards academic excellence.
