Cute Nurse in US with money but lonely cries online

‘For many people back home, life in the United States is often seen as the ultimate dream—a place where opportunities are endless and financial success is almost guaranteed. But a Kenyan nurse living in America is reminding people that behind the smiles and social media posts, life abroad can also be deeply lonely.

Kenyan nurse and social media influencer Nurse Judy has candidly shared the emotional struggles of building a life thousands of kilometres away from home, challenging the common belief that Kenyans living overseas have everything figured out.

In an emotional Instagram post shared on Sunday, July 12, Judy reflected on the silent battles many immigrants face despite achieving financial stability.

She explained that some of the simplest daily tasks often become painful reminders of the family and community she left behind in Kenya. Something as routine as taking a car for servicing or running errands can feel overwhelming when there is no trusted relative or close friend to step in and help.

Judy admitted that she misses the comfort of dropping her children off at a family member’s home, having someone unexpectedly check in on her, or simply knowing there are people nearby she can rely on.

«”Money solves a lot, but it does not replace community,” she wrote.»

The nurse revealed that although she now earns more than she ever imagined, financial success has not erased the emotional weight of living far from loved ones.

“I can make more money than ever before and still cry because I don’t have anyone to help me with basic errands,” she shared, urging people to understand that gratitude and hardship can exist side by side.

She added that it is possible to appreciate the life one has built while still struggling with loneliness.

«”I can be extremely grateful for the life I’ve built and still struggle with it. I can be blessed and lonely. I can be strong and tired.”»

Judy also challenged the perception created by social media, reminding her followers that the happy moments people post online rarely tell the whole story. A person celebrating a milestone today, she noted, may have spent the previous nights in tears.

Encouraging others to embrace their emotions instead of hiding them, she urged people to give themselves permission to feel, to break down when necessary, and to rise again when they are ready.

Her heartfelt message resonated with many followers, who flooded the comment section with words of support. Many admitted they had experienced the same loneliness while living abroad or had watched close friends and relatives silently endure similar struggles.

Judy has previously revealed that she hopes to relocate to Tanzania in the future, where she plans to embrace life as a stay-at-home mother while supporting her husband’s career. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that while life abroad may offer financial opportunities, the love, community and sense of belonging left behind at home are treasures that money cannot easily replace.
