Residents of Kanyimbo Sub-location in Majoge Chache, Ogembo, Kisii County, woke up to a heartbreaking discovery after a newborn baby was found abandoned under circumstances that have left the community in shock.

The infant, believed to have been born only a few hours earlier, was reportedly discovered by residents who were going about their normal morning activities. Their attention was drawn to the baby’s cries, prompting them to search the area before finding the helpless child abandoned and alone.
The discovery quickly attracted villagers, many of whom expressed disbelief and sadness that a newborn could be left to fend for itself. Some residents wrapped the baby in warm clothing and alerted local authorities and health officials, who responded to the scene before the infant was taken to a nearby health facility for medical examination and care. The baby was later transferred to ogembo police station for more investigations
Medical personnel are expected to monitor the baby’s condition as efforts continue to ensure the child receives the necessary treatment and protection. Fortunately, residents acted quickly, a move that may have saved the infant’s life.
