A wave of sorrow and outrage has swept through Kinungi in Naivasha after the gruesome discovery of a mutilated body believed to belong to a missing mother of four, leaving residents shaken and a family desperate for answers.

The chilling discovery was made near the busy Nairobi–Nakuru highway, where labourers working on the Rironi-Mau Summit Expressway stumbled upon a body dumped by the roadside. What they found was so horrifying that they immediately alerted authorities.
Police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the body had been severely mutilated. Most disturbing was the fact that the victim’s head was missing, turning what was already a tragic death into a baffling and disturbing mystery.
As investigators began processing the scene, relatives and friends anxiously waited for news. Their worst fears were confirmed when the victim was identified through the clothes she was wearing.
The moment the identity of the deceased became known, grief overwhelmed family members. Tears flowed freely as relatives mourned the loss of a woman described as a loving mother, daughter, and friend whose life had been cut short in a brutal and unimaginable manner.
According to a relative identified as James Kabono, the family had been searching for the 40-year-old woman since Monday after she mysteriously disappeared without a trace.
“We received information that a body had been dumped near the highway. When we went to check, we discovered it was our niece. We were devastated to find that her head had been cut off,” Kabono said, struggling to come to terms with the shocking discovery.
The revelation triggered further anguish among relatives, who say they remain completely in the dark about what happened to the mother of four and who could have committed such a heinous act.
As news of the discovery spread, concerned residents joined efforts to search the surrounding area in hopes of locating the missing head, believing it could provide crucial clues to investigators. However, the search yielded no immediate results, deepening the mystery surrounding the killing.
The Naivasha Directorate of Criminal Investigations has since launched investigations into the case. Naivasha DCI boss Isaac Kiama described the incident as a clear case of murder and confirmed that the victim’s head had not yet been recovered.
Authorities are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance, death, and how her body ended up near one of the country’s busiest highways.
Meanwhile, the gruesome killing has sparked anger and concern among Kenyans, many of whom have expressed frustration over the rising number of violent crimes reported across the country. On social media and within local communities, citizens have called for swift investigations and justice for the slain woman.
For the grieving family, however, the pain remains fresh. As they prepare to lay their loved one to rest, they are left grappling with haunting questions that have yet to be answered.
Who took her life? Why was she targeted? And what really happened during the days between her disappearance and the horrifying discovery of her body?
Until those answers emerge, Kinungi remains united in grief, mourning a mother whose life ended in a tragedy that has left an entire community in shock.
