Men competing and winning elections is actually normal but for Women to rise in political ladder, it is a tough journey. Reports published by NDI and the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Kenya) highlights a number of important political gains made by women during the last general elections.
The 12th Parliament has a record 22 women who won constituency seats in the hotly contested last General Elections. That is an increase by six from the 16 elected in the 2013 elections.
From a nominated Senator to the Samburu West MP, Naisula Lesuuda is arguably the youngest female MP in Kenya. She was born on born 30 April 1984 and is currently 36 years old.
She is first born of three children born to an Anglican bishop and a businesswoman. Naisula graduated from Daystar University with a degree in communications and community development.
She has in the past won several award as recognition for her good work to her community.
Back in 2014, the legislator had been named by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 20 youngest power women in Africa.

Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda walked down the aisle to marry boyfriend Robert Kiplagat in a colorful wedding in November 2018.
The invites only wedding was held in Samburu and was attended by high profile guests who are also close friends of Hon. Lesuuda and her husband.
