Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has filed a petition for the sacking of Chief Justice and Supreme Court President David Maraga .The MP claims he has enough evidence to show that Maraga involved in gross misconduct during the ruling in which President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win was annulled. Maraga led Supreme Court judges in cancelling Uhuru’s win in the August 8 election after Raila Odinga filed a petition.
Four judges ruled in favour of Raila, two dissented while one, Justice Mohammed Ibrahim was away from the court after he was taken ill.
“As far as I’m concerned, the Chief Justice excreted undue pressure on the three.. Maraga has engaged in gross misconduct, he tried to influence a presidential petition,” claimed the MP.
He said the CJ stopped Justice Mohamed from participating in the case even after he requested to be involved during the ruling.
Wambugu added he has enough evidence against Maraga which he is ready to present before the JSC, the CJ’s employer adding that the Supreme Court president conducted a “judicial coup”.
“I have proof, I have documentary evidence. I’m challenging the CJ for work he has done in the last four years..What we have is a group of people who have taken hostage of the judiciary,” said the MP.
The first time legislator said the ruling of the Supreme Court has put the country at a dicey situation with voters being forced to go back to the ballot in less than two months.
