The deputy principal Kitui boys national school got really hard time explaining the state of school in absence of Principal after CS Fred Matiangi gave unexpected visit at 8.00am to assess school. The first blow was when Matiangi found out the school principal was missing without permission
“Who gave the Principal permission to go to Nairobi?” Matiangi asked the County Education Executives.
The Minister asked the deputy principal to take him round the school and was shocked to find the institution in a poor sanitation state despite being ranked highly.
“This is a National School and we expect our children to learn in an environment of order. Are you happy that this is how the school looks?” the CS hard-pressed the deputy principal who could not explain the untidy condition.
Matiangi went ahead to visit a few classrooms and on entering the first class, he found the teacher in charge absent from duty.
In this situation, the deputy bailed himself out explaining that the missing tutor was away under his authority.
However, on moving to the next class, the teacher was also absent and worse enough, the Form 2 class with 45 students was found with only eight textbooks, leaving the Deputy Principal dumb-founded.
“A second class without a teacher and this is the first lesson. They have eight textbooks and they are 45 students and this is okay for you!” Matiangi scolded the school boss in front of the learners
