The online community can’t get enough of a picture of Deputy President William Ruto with his adopted daughter Nadia Cherono looking all grown up.
Nadia Cherono was adopted by Deputy President William Ruto from Ippolita Children’s Home five years ago .The second in command said he was touched by the girl’s story after she was abandoned but later rescued by nuns from the facility
Ruto gave her the name of his mother, Cherono. She was embraced by Ruto family and is now grown up.The cheerful girl seems to enjoy a very close relationship with her father
“The story of Nadia who was found buried, her body partly decomposing and abandoned as as newborn and has been nder the care of Sisters at Madre Ippolata Children’s Home touched my heart. I have named her Cherono, after my mother and made her part of my family,” he said on his Facebook post.
In another picture shared by secretary digital Dennis Itumbi, the father and daughter hold hands while walking into State House, Kampala, for a meeting with Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni.
“This Weekend in Kampala, DP Ruto told young People Nothing is Impossible – That was in words. In demonstrating those words, he held the hand of Nadia Jerono into Ugandan State House, a message that even if her fate was hopeless, thrown by the road and only discovered by cows – It is possible to be anything and to be anything,” wrote Mr Itumbi.
Cherono’s story confirms there is a future and a hope even for those in their lowest moments.
