Kenyans woke up to news that demonstrations have erupted in Kisii town ahead of William Ruto Visit.
The visit comes two days after the DP hosted another consultative meeting with a section of elected leaders from the region, at his Karen residence in Nairobi on Monday.
Reports say clashes were between a section of youth allied to the handshake and those leaning towards DP Ruto.
Ruto is the region to fundraise for Bodaboda rider in Kisii town and South Mugirango.
The demonstrators accused the Kisii local leadership of not involving them during the DP’s visit preparations, and using their much hyped visit to enrich themselves.
The protests come just a day after both President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga toured parts of the country and addressed residents.
Sources indicated that the quick move by Dr Ruto was aimed at expanding his support base after ODM leader and his political nemesis, Raila Odinga, and Interior CS Fred Matiang’i led a powerful group to assert BBI’s mission in Gusii.
