Irungu Kang’ata, the senator of Muranga county has been considered as poorest senator currently Kenya. This is after analysis of kind of lifestyle he lives.
Despite having a salary of close to Sh1 Million, the senator is said to possess a phone worth around Sh10,000 and loves driving in an old battered Toyota Corolla with a dent on its right side. Irungu admits that he hates suits and the few he possesses are in bad condition to even be worn by his fellow senators.
When he was elected into office he said he wanted a simple lifestyle and did not want to take up the affluence lifestyle of colleague Senators like bodyguards, aides and a motorcade of fuel guzzlers.
Iringu is not new to simple lifestyle. Back in 2013 when he won Kiharu parliamentary seat, he was almost chased away by security teams at Parliament Canteen for looking like an intruder.
WHO IS IRUNGU KANG’ATA ?
Irungu Kang’atais a Kenyan politician and the incumbent Senator for Murang’a County. He is a Law graduate from The University of Nairobi holding PHD in the field. He is also a principal in the firm Muchoki Kangata Njenga & Co. Advocates. He is the outgoing MP for Kiharu Constituency where he served from 2012- 2017.
The Murang’ a county senator, Kang’ata, is married to Mary Wambui.The two lovebirds wedded at the Gathinja Catholic Church in Kiharu Constituency in September 2018. The two have been blessed with three children.
The 37-year-old was credited for best managed CDF during his time as MP as well as investing in domestic water projects in 2015 . The award was given by Central Kenya Forum for Peace for best management.
