THE ONLY COUNTRY WITH NO OFFICIAL FLAG AND WHAT IT USES

Hundreds of independent states existed on the Indian subcontinent prior to the period of British control.

Many of these countries had state flags of their own, their symbols usually representing the ruling dynasty. Frequently, the flag designs, shapes, and colours were unusual.

Which country has no official flag?

This happens to be European nation, Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland has not had its own unique, government sanctioned flag since its government was prorogued, and abolished in 1973 under the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973.

What does the country use?

During official events, the British government uses the Union Flag which is the official flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and is the only flag used by the government in Northern Ireland.

The Union Flag is, by custom and practice rather than by any law, the official flag of the United Kingdom (UK), of which Northern Ireland is part. However, there has been no official Northern Ireland flag.

The Government of Northern Ireland adopted the Ulster Banner. It features the St George’s Cross defaced by a white six sided star, red hand of Ulster and royal crown. The star represents the six counties of Northern Ireland and the hand symbol originates from the Ulster province.

The flag Is still flown unofficially today by loyalists and unionists
