MWAKI KIBAKI FATHER MURDER
The story of President Mwai Kibaki’s father, which is known all over Othaya Division because of his son’s success in politics, ended in tragedy in 1983, when he was brutally murdered.
Kibaki Githinji, who lived to the ripe age of 105 was killed on December 17, 1983, by a farm worker called Jacob Maina Nyaga whom he had trusted for many years.
Jacob Maina Nyaga was arrested over Githinji murder and was found guilty and sentenced to hang and imprisoned at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.
Jacob Maina Nyaga’s family had high hopes that he would be released alongside other death row inmates who were pardoned by President Kibaki soon after he took over power in 2002 but it never happened.
Nobody knows whether he is alive or not currently.
