Every new parent wants their child to be happy. Besides the joy that comes from finally meeting their newborn baby, there can also be a sense of relief learning that their youngster is healthy, too.
11-year-old from Baglung of Nepal is suffering from a rare condition which is gradually turning him into a stone. Young Ramesh Kumari was just like another other child when he was born, but only 15 days after he was brought home, his skin started to peel off.
was the symptoms of Ichthyosis. Soon, it was replaced by thick black scales which were painful. This rare skin disease is turning the child into a stone
Ramesh does not interact with children of his age as most of them are horrified looking at him. No child of his age plays or talks to him. Most children run away on seeing him. Ramesh has a frozen body with limbs into twisted shapes. He neither interacts with his parents. He only talks when he is hungry or wants to go to the toilet.
His mother, quite understandably, was completely terrified. Can you imagine finding out that such a thing was happening to your own child?
Ramesh’s mother took him to see a doctor as soon as she possibly could, but she was told that there was nothing that could be done to save her child. His condition was extremely rare. But that was just the beginning.
Initially, it was believed that Ramesh’s unusual condition was nothing more than a simple fungal infection, but it soon became clear that something much worse was actually happening to the young boy’s body.
Sadly, the boy’s parents, Nanda and Nar, didn’t have the financial means to provide their son with the treatment that he so desperately needed
Ramesh and his family needed something miraculous to happen. Soon enough, that miracle arrived—in the form of British soul singer Joss Stone. While in Kathmandu for a concert, she decided to visit Ramesh in person.
But there was a surprise! The whole point of the concert was actually to raise money for Ramesh’s medical care. During her visit to the boy’s home, she also brought him a number of gifts. He and his family were touched by her generosity.
He is currently receiving specialized treatment
Ichthyosis is a long-term condition that results in hard ‘fish scales’ forming on the skin and is caused by a faulty gene passed down from parents.
There is no cure for the disease but it can be managed by daily skincare and other medications
Wish him quick recovery
