A cloud of uncertainty continues to hang over the death of a pregnant woman who fell from the fifth floor of a building in Kayole, Nairobi, with detectives now working to piece together the final moments before the tragic incident.

Bellacha Wambui died after plunging from the building under circumstances that remain unclear. Her death has raised difficult questions, particularly over what happened inside the building moments before she fell.
Her estranged lover, Antony Njuguna, has since been questioned by detectives as investigators seek to establish whether the fall was accidental or deliberate and whether anyone else may have played a role in the events leading to her death.
Njuguna’s family has strongly defended him, insisting that he was not responsible for Wambui’s death.
According to the family, Wambui had allegedly sent Njuguna a message suggesting that she intended to take her own life. The family further claims that she shared the message with Njuguna’s mother, Hanah Gichimu, in what they described as an emotional interaction before the tragedy.
Gichimu reportedly recalled Wambui telling her that she loved her as a mother but felt she had reached a point where she could no longer cope with the difficulties in her life.
The revelation has become a significant part of the family’s account as detectives attempt to understand Wambui’s state of mind in the period leading up to her death.
Njuguna, meanwhile, reportedly told investigators that he and Wambui had been keeping their distance from each other. Despite their strained relationship, the two were speaking shortly before the incident.
According to his account, Wambui was standing near the door when she suddenly moved towards the corridor. Shortly afterwards, she reportedly fell from the fifth floor.
Njuguna said he immediately rushed to where she had fallen and found her still alive. He reportedly tried speaking to her as he struggled to comprehend what had just happened.
For the family, however, the tragedy cannot be viewed in isolation from the difficulties Wambui had allegedly been facing in her personal life.
Family member Judy Njoroge said Wambui had reportedly been experiencing problems at home, particularly following disagreements with her mother. The strained relationship, she suggested, had made it difficult for Wambui to return home and may have left her feeling increasingly isolated.
Njoroge further suggested that the challenges in Wambui’s relationship with Njuguna could also have compounded her emotional struggles, leaving her feeling as though she had limited people to turn to.
As detectives continue their investigations, several questions remain unanswered. What exactly happened in the moments before Wambui fell? What was her state of mind at the time? And was anyone else involved in the circumstances surrounding her death?
For now, the answers remain with investigators as the family mourns the loss of a woman whose life ended suddenly, leaving behind grief, unanswered questions and a case that continues to attract attention in Kayole and beyond.
