Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lungs affecting primarily the microscopic air sacs known as alveoli. It is usually caused by infection with viruses or bacteria.
The most common bacteria that cause pneumonia are: Streptococcus pneumoniae,Haemophillus influenzae, Chlamidophila pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus.
The common viruses involved are: Rhinoviruses, coronaviruses, influenza virus, adenovirus and parainfluenza. There are also some fungi involved in pneumonia which include Cryptococcus neoformans and Histoplasma.
Remedies for Pneumonia
During the early acute stage, a tea made of fenugreek seeds will help the body to produce perspiration, dispel toxicity and shorten the period of fever.
Take up to four cups daily. The quantity should be reduced as the condition improves.
A paste of garlic is to be applied externally on the chest as it offers beneficial results because it is an irritant and rubefacient. Also eating raw garlic offers good results.
3 Sesame seeds
Sesame seeds are of great help in pneumonia.
Make an infusion of the seeds by seeping 15 grams of seeds in 250 ml of water. This infusion, mixed with a tablespoon of linseed, a pinch of common salt, and a spoon of honey, should be given in the treatment of the disease. This will help remove catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial tubes.
Diet for pneumonia
Raw vegetable and fruit juices. At the beginning of the treatment the patient should be kept on a diet of raw juices for 5 to 10 days to fasten the healing. Take a glass of the juice diluted with warm water every 2 hours.
