Photos of Nursing student found dead after fight with colleagues

A cloud of grief and unanswered questions hangs over a Nairobi family following the mysterious death of their daughter, Anne Adhiambo, a student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

What was supposed to be another ordinary day of learning ended in unimaginable tragedy after the young student was found dead inside her hostel room on Tuesday evening. Her sudden death has left relatives devastated and demanding a thorough investigation into what really happened during her final hours.

According to reports, Anne had reportedly been involved in a disagreement with fellow students earlier that day over clothes. Family members say the incident began after some of her roommates allegedly accused her of taking personal items without permission.

The disagreement is said to have escalated, leaving Anne distressed. Concerned by what had happened, she reportedly telephoned her sister and narrated the confrontation, explaining that tensions had risen between her and the other students.

Hours later, tragedy struck.

Anne was reportedly found unresponsive inside her room by fellow students, who immediately raised the alarm. School security officers and police responded to the scene before the body was moved to the City Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination that investigators hope will shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death.

Outside the mortuary, Anne’s family struggled to contain their grief as they appealed for justice.

Her heartbroken mother, speaking through tears, said the family could not understand how a daughter who had left home healthy could suddenly be dead under unclear circumstances.

According to the grieving mother, the family observed what they believe were visible injuries on Anne’s body, raising further concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death.

“We want the police to tell us what really happened to our daughter,” she said emotionally. “She left home healthy. Now we are being told she died after a quarrel. Her body had injuries, and we cannot bury her before knowing the truth.”

The family has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Kenya Medical Training College administration to carry out a comprehensive and impartial investigation. They want detectives to record statements from all students who interacted with Anne in the hours leading up to her death and establish exactly what transpired before she was found dead.

Police have since confirmed that an inquiry into the incident has been opened. Detectives are expected to interview witnesses, review available evidence, and await the findings of the post-mortem examination, which will be crucial in determining the exact cause of Anne’s death.

Meanwhile, KMTC management has said it is fully cooperating with investigators and has made counseling services available to students affected by the tragic incident. The institution has also appealed to members of the public to refrain from speculation and allow the investigation to take its course.

As detectives work to unravel the mystery, Anne’s family remains united in one plea—that the truth be established and justice served. For them, only a transparent investigation can provide the answers they desperately seek and bring some measure of closure after the painful loss of a daughter whose future was filled with promise.
