Life wasn’t really good as the high school did not support my acting – they were really into sports. I thus participated in athletics.”
After completing high school, Kawira enrolled for a course in deejaying at an academy and later pursued a diploma in Mass Communication at East Africa Institute of Professional Studies (EAIPS).

Celebrated actress Joy Karambu, otherwise popularly known as Kawira on the popular Papa Shirandula TV show that airs on Citizen, has opened the lid on her early days in marriage and how it was like settling down with a man for the first time in her life.
Speaking to edaily, Kawira revealed that she found it hard to cope with her husband’s demands and directions because she had not lived with a man before in her life.
She further revealed that her husband had an issue with how she reacted to these things but they came to understand each other and are now living happily.
She added that in marriage the woman has to submit to her husband if at all things are to work out perfectly. She said that submission in marriage is not burdening as some women tend to make it look like.
Kawira married Ephantus Wahome in early 2015 after dating for some time. Wahome is a pastor, motivational speaker and gospel artiste.
Brought up by single parent
Kawira’s father passed on while she was 4; hence she, and her sisters, were brought up solely by their mum.
“My mum, sisters and I call ourselves ‘The Four Women’. Contrary to what many would think, I did not experience a lot of challenges being raised by a single parent. I only missed running to someone who could physically protect me against harassment.”

Papa Shirandula” actress Joy Karambu, otherwise known by her character name Kawira, has finally opened up on the loss of one of her triplets.
The popular actress and her husband, Ephantus Wahome welcomed the triplets on December 7, 2017. The babies were born two months prematurely, with one succumbing and the other two being placed in an incubator for one month.
The actress has revealed that the remaining two, a boy and a girl, are doing fine.
“My two babies, a son and daughter, were placed in an incubator for one month, where they were closely looked after by doctors at a city hospital. They, alongside me, were discharged from hospital after one month. I am glad the babies are doing fine, though it saddens me that we lost one, who was part of the triplets,” said Kawira.
