The godfather of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s brother killed two lions in Kenya.
Netanyahu revealed while aboard his plane to Rwanda, that his brother Yonatan Netanyahu fondly known as Yoni was named after Colonel John Henry Patterson.
Patterson was a world war 1 veteran and at some point was stationed in Kenya as a British soldier.
The PM narrated that it was at Tsavo Park that the Colonel killed two lions that had eaten many Indians, hence, saved a lot of lives during his time in Kenya.
“When my brother Yoni was born in New York before my father and mother returned to Israel, they named him Jonathan; Nathan in honour of my grandfather and John in honour of John Henry Patterson,” he said while remembering the connection between his brother and Africa.
Yoni was a commander killed in Uganda during the delicate 1976 raid on Entebbe, which was an operation by Israeli commandos to save their fellow countrymen held hostage in a French plane by Palestinians.
PM Netanyahu left Kenya on Wednesday after completing his historic two-day state visit in the country.
