marriage can be a bed of roses and thorns in the same measure. This is evident from the story below
Dan Shieshie Matakayia , a police officer from kisii, was committed to ensuring that his life and that of his family was a comfortable one.
Forensic Science and Criminology Diploma holder encountered one of his darkest hours on the morning of September 21st 2013. At 5:30 am on that day, while asleep, his wife poured acid on his face leaving him with multiple injuries that would take years to heal.
On the fateful day, Dan Shisia Matakaya, who was then attached to Kisii Central Police Station, arrived home mid-morning from an exhausting night shift
The previous day the couple had had a minor disagreement, but when he arrived home his wife, who was then aged 23, did show any lingering signs of the diabolic plot she was hatching.
“I had just fallen a sleep, when I was woken by an excruciating pain on my face. I stumbled out of bed, but I was disoriented and I couldn’t see anything,” Matakaya told Taifa Jumapili in an interview.
As I stepped on the floor while getting out of bed, I felt some kind of electric shock. She had poured water on the floor and connected power. She wanted me to be electrocuted. Immediately I felt the shock, I screamed for help and my colleagues came to my help. They took me from the house and rushed me to the hospital.
By this time though, his ex-wife had long fled the scene and gone into hiding although she would surrender herself to the police a few days later.
He admitted he forgave her but will not withdrawal an ongoing Court case against his wife despite many requests by his in-laws.
