Domestic violence is violence or other abuse in a domestic setting, such as in marriage or cohabitation
Alice Njambi was married for 30 years before she divorced her husband in 2016. She is a professional nurse and her ex-hubby was a senior government official. The divorce was on the grounds of cruelty because he became physically violent.
She tearfully narrated how on one night; her husband arrived home late at night, after a drinking spree she let him in and went back to bed because she was unwell.
However, her hubby was having none of that, he dragged her out of bed, beat her up and undressed her in front of the children and the house help. She was beaten until she bled all over.
A security alarm that was pressed by her daughter was what rescued her that night She reported this incident to the police station.
Her Ex-husband used his power and influence to ‘finish’ her Chemist business and also to get her fired from major hospital in Kenya. She says that he had previously vowed, ‘I will use my money and position to finish you.’
Ever since their divorce was finalized, he has endeavored to hinder Alice from residing in the home by disconnecting water, electricity and breaking the windows.
He was even was malicious enough to leave 2 strange dead bodies in the compound all in an effort to scare Alice away.
She says she left her matrimonial bed once, and she left for good. Alice has currently filled a case in court seeking matrimonial property.
