The love story of street couple Sammy and Virginia has melted the heart of many after their photos made way to social media.
Sammy ‘Blackie’ Githae and Virginia Njeri became an internet sensation in February 2018 after photographer Johnson Muchiri shared their love story in photos that touched many. Muchiri caught love in its simplest form in the photos he took of Sammy and Virginia, his mission was to help the couple celebrate Valentine’s Day.
THE RISE OF THE COUPLE
Their journey changed overnight after their love story went viral on social media during Valentine’s Day.
Bonfire Adventures stepped in to complete the smiles on their faces and offered them an all paid trip to Diani by Helicopter as Muchiri Frames transformed the two into a classic perfect models during a Valentine’s photoshoot.
Just in short period, the couple flew on a plane for the first time while some of these people don’t even know how it looks like.
The tour company also paid their 5 months rent to kick-start their lives.
Many though this was their turning point but things took a drastic turn few months later.
THE FALL OF SAMMY AND VIRGINIA
Well, a year after their Valentine bliss Sammy and Virginia were again back to the street and most people could not understand what really happened.
According to them they were ditched by well-wishers who had promised to help them.
Speaking to KTN’s Lofty Matambo in an interview that aired on Live on TV, Sammy revealed that their lives only changed for a short period of time and the only thing they have to remember is their trip to Diani.
After coming back to the streets , Sammy reveals her Lover Njeri was arrested and detained central police station for allegedly participating in demonstration.
His Street friends who openly welcomed them back to streets believed that corporate were out to build their brands by pretending to take care of the couple and their selfish motives.
BONFIRE ADVENTURES EXPLANATION
Whoever Sammy and Virginia explanation is completely different to what Bonfire CEO had to say.
According him the two declined jobs offered to them under unclear circumstances.
Virginia was to work as a cookamm and Blackie a gardener at an undisclosed school in the Rift Valley . Lovebird Virginia reportedly took the offer but later ran away from job in Bomet to reunite with Sammy in Nairobi. Blackie declined his job opportunity , saying he couldn’t go out of Nairobi.
Muchiri also accused Njeri of selling a mobile phone and household items purchased by funds from well-wishers in just two days.
CURRENT LIFE OF VIRGINIA AND SAMMY
They are now live in the streets, right behind Galitos on Moi Avenue to be precise.
The two now needs to be admitted into a rehabilitation facility because they use drugs.
