Few days after US special forces were deployed by US president Donald Trump to Boni forest to wipe out alshabaab, other forces have landed in Somalia to extinguish the militants. Boni forest has been a hideout for al-Shabaab in the last few years, with its dense foliage making it difficult to track the militants.
Currently United States military has entered one of al-Shabaab’s major strongholds in Somalia.The US soldiers entered Mudug region which is a stronghold of the terror group for a military offensive.According to sources, the US special forces were backed by the Somali National Army (SNA) in their pursuit of the terrorists.
Local residents reported seeing drones hovering the skies as US soldiers patrolled the region.Militant group al-Shabaab still controls a large chumk of territory in Somalia.The terror group has its capital in Jilib in Southern Somalia and its from here they mastermind attacks in and outside Somalia.
In Jauary 27, al-Shabaab militants attacked a Kenya Defence Force (KDF) in Kulbiow, Somalia.
